William Bonin was a serial killer suspected of sexually assaulting, torturing and killing at least 21 boys and young men in Los Angeles and Orange County, California. Bonin was executed by lethal injection inside the gas chamber at San Quentin State Prison on February 23, 1996, 14 years after his first death sentence had been imposed.
