Robert the Doll is a life-sized, handmade, allegedly haunted doll on display at the East Martello Museum in Key West, Florida. In 1904, a young girl gave a life-sized, fabric-stuffed doll to Robert Eugene “Gene” Otto, a Key West boy. Otto named the doll Robert and built it a room in his attic. The doll was created by the Steiff Company and is 40 inches tall and stuffed with wood wool. Otto became very attached to the doll and blamed it for his misbehavior. Some say that Otto would point to the doll and say, “I didn't do it. Robert did it”. The doll's caretakers receive and reads all of the doll's letters and emails, and runs its social media accounts. The doll also receives candy, money, and sometimes joints from visitors
