Aurora Cemetery is best known for its connection to the legendary 1897 airship crash, and much of its folklore centers around the supposed burial of the unidentified pilot. Visitors have long claimed that the grave site once marked by a stone or rock had an unusual energy, with some reporting strange feelings or electronic disturbances when standing near the area believed to contain the remains.

Throughout the twentieth century, stories circulated that a headstone bearing a crude image of a flying craft once marked the grave. This marker later disappeared under unclear circumstances, which fueled speculation that someone had removed or concealed something significant. Investigations in the 1970s even detected unusual metal readings in the ground before the marker vanished.

Some visitors have reported seeing faint lights or glowing orbs in the cemetery at night, particularly near the area associated with the alleged burial. These lights are often described as hovering briefly before disappearing, leading some to believe they may be connected to the legend of the crash or residual energy tied to the event.

People also occasionally report unexplained sounds, including soft footsteps, whispers, or distant voices when no one else is present. Continued interest in the story has shaped modern folklore.
