Walnut Beach Park, at 28 acres, offers excellent access to Lake Erie and protects an extensive sand beach. The best birding occurs in fall and early winter. The Ashtabula Harbor Lighthouse, located near the end of the 1.4-mile federal breakwater, can be viewed from the park.

A ghostly man can be seen walking on the waters of Lake Erie just off the coast of Walnut Beach. His ship had wrecked many years ago, and his entire family drowned. It is believed that he is looking for his lost family.
