The Valley of Death is a battlefield area in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania that's considered one of the most haunted places in the United States. The intense fighting in this area on July 2, 1863, resulted in over 2,600 Confederate deaths. The area was so deadly that it was also known as the Slaughter Pen. Visitors and residents to the area have reported hearing phantom footsteps, ghostly drumbeats, and echoes of musket fire and cannon blasts. Some believe these encounters are the restless souls of soldiers reliving their final moments.
