Ghost stories often center around old buildings or structures that have been abandoned and left to deteriorate, as they contribute to a spooky atmosphere. As time goes on, stories and traditions about strange events that take place in these locations might be handed down from one generation to the next, strengthening the belief in the lore. These stories frequently draw in those who are interested and courageous, since they want to feel the excitement of the unknown. Although the reports of hauntings at these locations may be more folklore in nature, there are some that may carry historical background that should be investigated, as they may be what caused the location to become abandoned in the first place.
There are several reasons why parks can be thought of as "haunted." These include their tendency to be isolated and secluded, historical tragedies that may have taken place within their boundaries, and abandoned buildings left crumbling on the property, which can lead to potential paranormal activity. Many parks have been the site of tragic events such as accidents, suicides, and murders, leading to locals perpetuating the telling of ghost stories and folklore. We have also discovered situations where cities have taken over abandoned and unfunded cemeteries and turned these areas into a park using cost-effective methods such as only moving the headstones and leaving the graves. Furthermore, there are many parks that are located on land that was formerly home to indigenous populations, and their burial places may be found within the park boundaries, which adds to the concept that there are restless spirits in the area.
Most people believe cemeteries are void of paranormal activity because they are consecrated or because spirits don't return to their graves. However, cemeteries are often considered "haunted" because of their association with death and the unknown, as well as stories of disturbed graves, unmarked burials, tragic deaths, natural disasters that disrupt resting places, and the general sense of sadness and grief that surrounds a graveyard. All of these factors lead people to believe that spirits might linger in cemeteries.
