Ocracoke Island - Ghost of Lighthouse Keeper

Definition: The legend of the ghost of the lighthouse keeper on Ocracoke Island.
The lighthouse on the island was built in 1823 and it is the second-oldest still in operation in the United States.

The spirit reported at the lighthouse is that of an old lighthouse keeper with black and gray striped pants and a white shirt. He is said to have long hair tied back with string and a full heavy beard. It is said that he appears to be a solid living person until the point where he walks through you.

A family of visitors to the lighthouse reported to the current docent of the lighthouse that early one morning when the family arrived to tour the lighthouse they found that it was still closed for the day. A very nice, older gentleman spoke with them briefly and opened the door to the lighthouse for them to let them go inside. As they were leaving, the current docent was there and asked them how they got inside. They told him that the older gentlemen greeted them and opened the locked door with a key. The issue is that the only person who has a key to the lighthouse is the current docent.

There is also a lighthouse keeper who paces the upper floor of a vintage bed and breakfast, but could it be the same lighthouse keeper?
